Fight Fraud: Guard Your Medicare Card Medicare will be issuing new cards starting in April 2018 through April 2019. What’s new: Your Social Security Number will be removed to help prevent identity theft. Protect yourself from identity theft and healthcare fraud! Do not share your Medicare number with anyone - by telephone, email or in person - unless it is a trusted provider. Medicare will NEVER contact you (unless asked) for your Medicare number or other personal information. Do not let anyone borrow or use your Medicare number. Review your Medicare Summary Notice and check your charges to make sure that they are correct.
