Fly-in in conjunction with balloon festival

ELKO - The Experimental Aircraft Association will host its fly-in show 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Elko Regional Airport.

Experimental, vintage, Warbird, helicopter and rescue aircraft will fly in and be on static display all day. Breakfast is served by the association 8-11 a.m. and Civil Air Patrol will serve lunch noon-3 p.m. Admission is free and entry is at the old terminal by the National Weather Service office.

Randy Powell, an organizer of the event, said aircraft expected at the fly-in include a T-6, two Bearhawks and Apache and Cobra helicopters from the Idaho Air National Guard. Aircraft that may also arrive are the experimental Harmon Rocket and the P-51. The Bearhawk and Harmon Rocket are planes pilots can build from kits.

The public can also see radio controlled planes and take tethered hot air balloon rides, weather permitting.

The fly-in is in conjunction with the Ruby Mountain Balloon Festival, which launches 6:30 a.m. today through Sunday at the Spring Creek Sports Complex.
