The Villas at Riverside apartments, 1525 Opal Drive, celebrated opening a new office location with the Elko Area Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 16. Property manager Debra Long had an unused unit converted into staff space, including offices and a conference room. Long said the change allows provides residents privacy when visiting with the office manager. With 156 units, the apartments have a pool and gym. Local writers’ club, Writers for the Son, joined the Elko Area Chamber of Commerce Aug. 22. The Christian writers’ group meets every third Tuesday of the month to encourage fellow writers, help with publishing options and provide editing assistance for all genres. Founded by Spring Creek author Serenity K. Orr, Writers for the Son also hosts writing workshops open to the public. The next free workshop, “Be Precise,” is scheduled for Aug. 26, 1-4 p.m. at the Elko County Library and will be taught by a local journalist and Orr. Call 934-5527.
