Please join us for Business Before Hours on Jan. 11 at 8 a.m. at the Family Resource Center. Business Before Hours is a great opportunity to network with other businesses in the area, learn about community events, and learn a little bit about the hosting business. This event is free and open to the public.
The Family Resource Center has been serving Northern Nevada Residents for over 30 years. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for Northeastern Nevada residents through education, programs, and community connections.
The FRC offers a wide variety of programs including:
Family Advocacy: Individualized family support in developing health, independence, and self-sufficiency.
Parenting Classes: Free and specialized evidence-based, privately instructed parenting programs for parents with infants, toddlers, preteens and teens. Programming includes specialized training for divorcing parents, blended families, and grandparents as parents.
Referrals and Information: Each year they receive more than 14,000 calls for assistance from families residing in Northeastern Nevada. They connect these families and individuals with community services, businesses, etc.
Hunger Project: Empowering those living in conditions of hunger and poverty to achieve self-sufficiency; emergency food and food distributions.
Grandparent Respite: Childcare payments for those over the age of 55 raising their grandchildren without any help from the natural parents.
Teen Health Education: Free medically-accurate, evidence-based education programs, for adolescents and teens, aged 10-19, proven effective in reducing the risk of HIV, STDs and teen pregnancy.
Women, Infants and Children: Nutritional education and supplemental food for low income families.
Breastfeeding Support & Information: Help and resources for breastfeeding women.
