ELKO – Kinross Bald Mountain announced a $10,000 donation to Friends in Service Helping (FISH) to assist with the purchase of a refrigerator and freezer for their food bank and to help with the purchase of items for their holiday food boxes.
Additionally, Bald Mountain Mine donated half of the prize-winning steer it purchased at the Elko County 4-H Auction to be served at the local food bank.
“Kinross recognizes the value that the FISH organization brings to the community and is pleased to be able to make a substantial contribution to help them accomplish their mission: ensuring that those in need in Elko have a warm meal and a place to sleep,” said Alissa Wood, corporate social responsibility specialist.
Friends in Service Helping thanked Kinross Bald Mountain Mine for the recent donations.
“It’s great to see a company care about the community and help support us in improving the quality of life for those in need,” said Sherry Smith, executive director of FISH. “Thanks to Kinross’ financial donation we will be able to store more food products to provide to our families, especially during the holidays. The meat will be utilized for our Soup Kitchen meals and at our Samaritan House Emergency Shelter.”
All donations made to FISH will be used to help support and serve its many local programs that help families in crisis.
FISH is a nonprofit organization that exists to serve those less fortunate, and to determine and provide for the needs of individuals seeking urgent or supplemental assistance in Elko County and surrounding Northeastern Nevada.
