ELKO — Traffic may be slowed this morning as law enforcement escorts an artifact from the World Trade Center that will be on display at the Elko Mining Expo.
Mountain Crane is bringing in the artifact and a retired tank, said Laura Hinton, who is organizing the exhibit on behalf of Utah Fallen Warrior Memorial at Fort Douglas Military Museum in Salt Lake City.
Several agencies will help with the escort, including the Nevada Highway Patrol, Elko County Sheriff’s Office, Western Shoshone Tribal Police, Elko Fire, Carlin and Elko police officers and POW/MIA riders, said Elko Police Lt. Ty Trouten.
The artifact will move from Khoury Lane to East Jennings to Idaho Street to 14th Street then to College Avenue and end at Moren Way by the Elko Convention Center. The escort should begin at 9 a.m.
Visitors to the Expo will be able to take photos of the artifact and the tank, Hinton said.
“It’s so people can see it and enjoy it,” she said. “This is how Mountain Crane can give back to the community.”
