ELKO  Fire danger is high across Northern Nevada today and Monday, as gusty winds and low humidity are expected to produce critical fire weather conditions.

The National Weather Service’s red flag advisory extends from 11 a.m. today until 11 p.m. Monday.

Relative humidity today is forecast at only 2 percent. Winds are expected to range from 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph.

The weather service’s red flag warning means critical fire conditions are occurring or will occur shortly, with warm temperatures creating “explosive fire growth potential.”

The forecast high today in Elko is 94.
