ELKO — Wells, Ely, Eureka and Austin are under a winter storm watch beginning late tonight and extending through Tuesday.

The surrounding areas could get 5 to 9 inches of snow, with 16 to 24 inches in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

Elko and other parts of Elko County are expected to get up to an inch of snow tonight.

“Winter weather advisories will likely be needed” here as the storm approaches, the weather service stated.

Snow and blowing snow will continue into Wednesday, followed by a brief break before returning Thursday night.
