September 13, 1949—November 19, 2017
Barbara was born to Bud and Liz Rose on September 13, 1949 in San Jose, CA and passed away on November 19, 2017 in Elko, NV. Barbara spent most of her youth working on the family ranch in Jiggs, NV and participating in 4-H. She graduated from Elko High School in 1967.
Barbara married Don Farmer in 1968 and had their miracle child, Amy, in 1977. Barbara was an amazing mom. She never missed a 4-H show, rodeo, or event. Amy dragged her all over the state, in all kinds of conditions, and to all kinds of towns. Barbara was always the proudest mom in the stands.
Barbara was member of the Silver State Stampede board for many years. One of her fondest memories was when she was honored as the 2000 Grand Marshall of the Silver State Stampede. Barbara worked for the US Forest Service and as an office manager at a local drilling company. In her spare time, she played cards, enjoyed watching her 49ers, and spent time with family and friends. Barbara competed at the state level for bowling, but she had to stop due to health complications. God blessed Barbara with a positive attitude, determination, and fight that few people have.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father Bud, Uncle Dick, Uncle Tony Ferreira, Aunt Bernice Ferreira, and children lost at birth. She is survived by her daughter Amy Farmer, grandson Logan Martindale, mother Liz Rose, sister Carla Gilligan (Dennis) of Surprise, AZ, brother Jack Rose (Ranae) of Elko, NV, sister Toni Schutte (Larry) of Elko, NV, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Barbara has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to charity of choice.
