August 3, 1941—January 7, 2018
C. Wayne Marcom was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on August 3, 1941 to Frances and Dan Marcom. Wayne went home to Glory on January 7, 2018.
Wayne served in the US Navy in Yokosuka, Japan from October 15, 1958-July 17, 1962.
Much later in life, in keeping a promise he’d made to his mother before entering the Navy, Wayne went back to school and earned his high school diploma in 1987. Wayne spent most of his life living in California, but had recently moved to Elko.
Wayne never met a stranger and made fast friends wherever he was. He always found the best in people and encouraged them to be their best. Wayne so loved his family and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved to go on and on about how proud he was of them and he’d take every opportunity to tell someone a story about his grandkids. He will be missed terribly.
Wayne loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church and was so happy to have gotten to hear his grandson preach.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother Frances Cousins, father Dan Marcom, sister, Othella Jimenez and brother, Harold Horton.
Wayne is survived by his wife Valerie Marcom, sister Diane Turner, three children Christopher (Deborah) Marcom, Holly (Don) Zumwalt of Elko and Scott (Stacie) Marcom of Visalia, California, two stepsons Jeremy Bailey (Samantha) and Joshua (Mira) DeLeon both of Modesto, California, and a step son and step daughter, Steven Marcom and Heather Cooper of Visalia, California, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Living Stones Church 172 5th Street, Elko, NV on Thursday, January 18th at 6:00pm.
