Carlos Fidel Arceniega Fano 65, had passed away peacefully Saturday, on December 23rd in Las Vegas, NV. He was born March 10, 1952, in Sopelana, Spain, to Carlos and Maria Arceniega. He was married to Amelia Arceniega on July 8, 1976, in Elko, NV. In 1972 he and his mother and father left the Basque country for a better life. From his beginnings in 1972-1973, he worked in Wyoming as a sheepherder until his family moved to Elko, NV for better opportunities. While first residing in Elko, NV he worked as a cook at the local casino. Carlos met the love of his life, Amelia, and they created their life together raising their two children in Carlin, NV. He worked for Newmont Gold Co. for 30 years as a blaster. Carlos’s hobbies were fishing with his best friend Bob Wilson, playing Mus with the old Basque men at Biltoki’s, and spending time with his family. He always made sure to live life to the fullest and was always honest and caring for his family, conversing with his friends and family, and his uncanny ability to converse with anyone he met. His greatest talent was making people feel as though they were the most important person in the room. Carlos is survived by his wife, Amelia Arceniega; children, Begona and Jonkar Arceniega; daughter-in-law, Kasey Arceniega; sister, Begona Arceniega Ortega; grandchildren, Marlow Arceniega, Cassia Marshall, and Annaleise Marshall and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives Carlos touched are invited to his remembrance celebration at the Basque House in Elko, NV at 2pm on March 30, 2018, to support, remember, converse and celebrate the incredible life Carlos had lived.
