October 3, 1943—September 20, 2017
Gerald Byers was born in Elko, NV to Louis and Mildred Byers October 3, 1943. He was raised in Lamoille, graduating from Elko High School in 1961. Upon completion of dental school in San Francisco, Jerry practiced dentistry in Walnut Creek, CA until returning to Elko in 1979, at which time he opened his dental practice and continued until his retirement.
Despite his successful practice in California, his heart always remained in Nevada. In 1978, Jerry with his parents purchased a ranch in Lamoille which he operated up to the time of his death.
Along with his passion for ranching, he enjoyed many excursions including fishing, camping, hunting and he was an avid skier in his earlier years. He also volunteered at the Lamoille Post Office.
Jerry is survived by his daughters Nicole (Byers) Edmonds of CA and Reiley Byers of CO, grandsons Hudson and Christopher, brother, John and sisters Judy Johnson and Janet Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim. He will be missed deeply.
At Jerry’s request no services will be held; however, a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Lamoille Community Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
