Mark Randall Ballew was born October 22, 1954 in Leadville, CO to Douglas Fairbanks Ballew and Elois Evelyn Ballew. Mark passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Meridian, ID on October 28, 2017. After Colorado his family moved to Mangum, Oklahoma where he was raised on a family farm. A couple of years after he graduated from high school he moved to Burns, OR and worked for Edward Hines Lumber Company. He fell in love and married Kathy Irene Nelson in 1975. His son, Mark Douglas Ballew, was born in 1976 and his daughter, Amanda Jo Ballew was born in 1980. The family then moved to Elko, NV in 1980 where he worked for Newmont Gold Company for 16 years as a drilling services coordinator. After his divorce in 1999 he moved to Utah where he went to college to receive his MCSE degree in computers. After receiving his MCSE certifications, he then moved to Arizona for a few years before residing in Boise, Idaho to be closer to family, where he worked for HP until he retired in 2015. Mark loved to be outdoors, including fishing, camping, hunting, and shooting guns. He enjoyed scuba diving and snorkeling. During his time in Arizona he liked to travel to Mexico and spend time there. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren every chance he could. Mark also enjoyed country dancing, (line dance, and 2-step). Mark is survived by: son Mark Douglas (Heather), Ballew; daughter Amanda Jo (Mark) Hylton; sister Linda Burns, girlfriend Chrystene Gempler, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, various aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Darrell Ballew, parents Douglas and Elois Ballew, grandparents; Arthur and Lulu Ballew and Albert and Velma Selfridge. A Celebration of Life will be held in Elko, NV on Saturday, November 11, at the Ledgestone Hotel, 2585 E.
