Steve English, 69, passed away at home on January 17 surrounded by his family and his beloved dog, Max.
Steve was born March 12, 1948 to Charles and Eva English in Fairbury, Nebraska. He attended school there graduating from Jr. College in 1967. Steve then attended airline school in Kansas City, Missouri and upon graduation was drafted into the US Army. He served for two years as a company clerk at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.
Steve married Judy Anderson in Fairbury in 1971. He then attended the University of Nebraska graduating with a BA in anthropology in 1973. Steve and Judy then served in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan, teaching English. After the Peace Corps, they settled in Logan, UT while Steve attended Utah State. In 1978 he graduated Cum Laude, with a BS in Social Studies Education.
Steve’s first teaching job was in Carlin, where he taught for eight years. After teaching at Elko Jr. High for several years, he then moved to Elko High School where he taught until retiring in 2007. He enjoyed his family, friends and his dog. He liked camping, playing cards, watching movies and sports, listening to music, reading and teaching.
Steve is survived by his wife, Judy; son Adam and his wife Annie of Seattle, WA; daughter, Stephanie; three brothers, two sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve will be missed more than words can express. Services are planned for Spring.
