OWYHEE — Owyhee Combined School finished class competitions for homecoming honors with the theme of “Animation Fascination.”
Each class was assigned an animated movie to design their windows and floats around: “The Lego Movie” for seniors; “Shark Tale” for juniors; “The Croods” for sophomores; “Home” for freshmen; “Shrek” for eighth grade; and “Madagascar” for seventh grade.
Competitions included lunch-time games, wood gathering for a bonfire, dress-up days, decorating windows and floats, and a pep rally. The homecoming parade was on Oct. 6.
Owyhee played football and volleyball teams from Carlin Combined School. The Braves football team had some outstanding plays, losing 26-54 after ending the game with only six players due to injuries. The Lady Braves dominated the court, defeating Carlin 3-0. This year’s parade was after the games and had a large degree of community support and participation.
Homecoming king and queen were seniors Marco Ovando and Kaylani Smartt, including their court of Klein Kelly and Destany Pete, Ervin Harney and Destiny Thomas, and Taylor Townsend and Bridget Thacker.
Prince and princess were sophomores Terell Whiterock and Trinity Thomas, with their court including juniors Ramon Cordova Jr. and Bobby Kelly, and freshmen Klay Thomas and Natasha Slowtalker.
