JIGGS — The body of a man found in the rubble of a house fire Friday will undergo an autopsy today to determine his identity and how he died, said Sheriff Jim Pitts.
After an initial investigation, deputies tentatively identified the man as Curtis S. Otto, 86.
Investigators do not believe the fire was arson, Pitts said, and they believe the man may have been dead before the fire broke out.
The State Fire Marshal’s office out of Carson City is investigating the cause of the fire and death.
Officer Dennis Ely, who is heading up the investigation, did not return calls for comment Monday.
The Nevada Division of Forestry received a report of the fire at Red Rock Ranch at about 7 a.m. Friday. Sheriff’s deputies responded soon after.
