CARLIN — The injured victim in the shooting in Carlin this morning went into surgery at University of Utah Hospital around 1 p.m. Monday for gunshot injuries to his neck and hand, according to Elko County Sheriff Lt. Kevin McKinney.

Authorities originally believed 19-year-old victim Taylor Black had injuries to his arm and back, but clarified once he arrived and was evaluated at the hospital.

Law enforcement detectives continue to investigate the scene at 920 Railroad St. and are still unsure about how many shots were fired in the home. They do now know that Teresa Black was shot in the downstairs portion of the house first before Taylor Black was shot upstairs, McKinney said.

An autopsy of Teresa Black's body is scheduled for Tuesday, with preliminary results by the end of the week, McKinney said.
