SPRING CREEK — A local man was arrested for driving under the influence and child neglect after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident that knocked a tree onto a trailer Saturday night on Blakeland Drive.
A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper helping with the hit-and-run report noticed a truck drive by with a headlight out and heavy front-end damage.
When pulled over, Raymond Harden admitted to hitting the tree. The trooper smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and performed a sobriety test.
Further investigation revealed that he hit a tree and a propane tank with a female passenger and two children in the vehicle, although Harden was alone when stopped.
“What we found out is that this kid and this other lady was in his car,” said Trooper Jim Stewart. “They were inside the vehicle, and for whatever reason, they got out of the vehicle; I don’t know why.”
Harden was charged with two counts of child neglect, second offense DUI and failure to report damage to property. His bail was set at $8,035.
