ELKO – An Elko man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing food and alcohol from Smith’s and fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Gordon Temoke, 42, walked into the grocery store with an empty backpack, according to Elko Police Sgt. Jason Pepper, and took items including steaks, two bottles of alcohol, chips, pasta and milk.

He was charged with burglary and petit larceny.

Pepper said employees attempted to stop Temoke from leaving with the stolen merchandise.

“He stuffed it all in a backpack and when employees saw him they tried to stop him,” he said. “He took off on a bike and we found him a short time later at Angel Park,” he said.

His bail was set at $21,140.

Gordon Temoke, was arrested after walking into the grocery store with an empty backpack, stealing several grocery items and fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

According to Elko Police Sergeant Jason Pepper Temoke took steaks, two bottles of alcohol, chips, pasta, and milk among other items from the store.

He was charged with burglary and petit larceny.

Pepper said Temoke employees at the store attempted to stop Temoke from leaving the store with the stolen merchandise.

“He stuffed it all in a backpack and when employees saw him they tried to stop him,” he said. “He took off on a bike and we found him a short time later at Angel Park,” he said.

His bail was set at $21,140.
