CARLIN – A Carlin man is suspected of beating and attempting to stab his elderly roommate Saturday.

Police were called to a bar in Carlin where a man told authorities his roommate, Lee Elliott, 56, had assaulted him and tried to stab him, but the knife went into a table instead, according to Police Chief Dennis Fobes.

The roommate escaped the residence with help from another man and ended up at the bar to call police, said Fobes.

Police arrived at the residence where Elliott had barricaded himself in his bedroom, fought with officers and was tazed before being arrested, Fobes said.
