ELKO – The driver of a stolen vehicle led police on a high-speed chase in the tree streets Wednesday night, then escaped by fleeing on foot.
Elko police Lt. Mike Palhegyi said an officer was attempting to make a traffic stop on Cedar Street involving a Ford Explorer with expired plates. The driver led police on a chase at speeds up to 70 mph. The Ford hit two vehicles before crashing into a fence on Seventh Street near the cemetery.
