Elko District Court Department I – Nancy Porter
Madel Rocio Cecena-Gonzalez, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking in a Schedule 1 controlled substance and one count of allowing a child to be present during the commission of the act of trafficking and was sentenced to an aggregate of 44 to 120 months in prison and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
Benjamin Jay Thompson, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 30 months in prison with credit for 78 days served.
Angelita Carlson Sherman, 42, pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance and was given a suspended sentence of two years in prison with credit for one day served, was placed on probation for five years and ordered to submit to electronic monitoring, abstain from alcohol, marijuana use, and gambling and complete the Adult Drug Court program.
Elko District Court Department II – Judge Al Kacin
Kerry P. Kavanaugh, 42, pleaded guilty to attempted theft and was sentenced to 40 days in jail with credit for time served, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, pay $250 restitution to Sierra Jewelry and Loan, and pay $668 restitution to Rent-A-Center.
