ELKO – An Elko man pleaded guilty in district court to one count of attempted sexual assault of a child under 16 years old.
Daniel Charles Cooke, 36, was sentenced Thursday by Elko District Judge Nancy Porter to 20 years in prison with credit for 244 days served in jail. He is eligible for parole in eight years, according to court records.
Cooke must also register as a sex offender.
He was arrested August 27 on one count of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 after admitting to police detectives he assaulted a 13-year old girl who was also a family member, according to Free Press files.
