ELKO – A police officer pulled over a driver for invalid plates which led to other serious criminal charges, according to Police Lt. Ty Trouten.
Christopher P. Estella, 30, was pulled over Friday at around 1:30 a.m. on West Sage and Elm streets for driving with surrendered license plates.
The attending officer discovered that Estella also did not have insurance on the vehicle he was driving, said Trouten. Further investigation led to the discovering of around five grams of methamphetamine packaged in one gram bags, and a handgun. Estella is prohibited from carrying a firearm.
Estella was arrested for operating an unregistered vehicle, trailer, or semi; not having proof of insurance; possession of a controlled substance; possession to sell a controlled substance; owning or possessing a gun by a prohibited person; use or possession of drug paraphernalia; and trafficking a controlled substance.
His bail was $56,575.
