ELKO – A man was arrested Friday after allegedly entering a stranger’s home and holding her child.
According to Elko Police Lt. Ty Trouten, Nicholas R. Rose, 22, of Spring Creek was arrested on Friday after allegedly entering a couple of different apartments.
“He appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol when he was at 1806 Winchester Drive,” said Trouten. “Basically, he tried to gain entry into a couple of different apartments. At one of them a 4-year-old boy opened the door. When the mother walked in she found the unknown male holding her other child, a 21-month old son, with a pan of water on the stove.”
Trouten said the woman took her baby and asked him what he was doing. He mumbled and walked out of the apartment. The woman locked the door and called police.
Rose then knocked on the door of another apartment and when the tenant opened the door he fell inside. After getting up the woman shut the door in his face.
Police came to the scene and arrested Rose for attempted burglary and failure to appear after bail on a misdemeanor crime.
Bail was listed at $20,495.
