SPRING CREEK – A young man riding with his parents to a treatment program leapt from the moving vehicle.
According to Undersheriff Ron Supp, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Palace Parkway and Lamoille Highway at around 8 a.m. Thursday. A man reportedly jumped from a car and ran across the highway, nearly being hit by oncoming vehicles.
Officers met with the parents and saw the man walking down the road. They made contact with him and he admitted to using drugs a couple of days ago, said Supp.
Drug recognition testing was being done by ambulance workers when Collin J. Burgess, 22, of Spring Creek tried to leave and became aggressive toward authorities.
Officers believed Burgess was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him for felony use of or being under the influence of a controlled substance. No injuries were reported.
Bail was listed at $5,000.
