ELKO – A woman slashed another woman after an incident involving a marijuana sale Sunday morning.
According to Elko Police Lt. Ty Trouten, Melissa M. Valles, 43, of Elko was in an argument with a woman at the Cimarron Trailer Court over a marijuana sale. Police were called about a stabbing and when officers arrived they found the victim had wounds to her arm and face.
The assailant fled to her trailer, locked herself inside and would not answer the door when law enforcement arrived, said Trouten.
Police procured a search warrant and were able to take her into custody and process her for evidence within her trailer.
“This is the side of it that the public never sees,” said Trouten. “They think you smoke marijuana, you get mellow, and fall asleep, no big deal. But, what you are talking about is illegal drug trade. Despite what the state law may be, if one person feels like they have been ripped off or taken advantage of you have this response.”
Valles was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon. Her bail was listed at $50,000.
