ELKO — The Elko Narcotics Unit arrested three Spring Creek residents and recovered more than 83 grams of heroin Thursday night following an investigation into local drug distribution.

At 8:30 p.m. officers including the Elko police SWAT team served a search warrant at 743 Devon Drive. Officers recovered 83.49 grams of heroin, 1.45 grams of methamphetamine, 31 doses of prescription drugs, numerous items of paraphernalia, and two firearms.

The three occupants of the home also face child endangerment charges, although no information was provided on children in the residence.

Efren Aguirre Jr., 45, of Spring Creek was booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance of methamphetamine, one count of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances for sale, two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act, according to the Narcotics unit press release.

Aguirre also faces booking for two counts of an ex-felon in possession of a gun by a prohibited user and for child abuse and neglect, according to the Elko Sheriff’s Office log of arrests. Bail for Aguirre is set at $480,640.

Tera A. Madison, 38, of Spring Creek was booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, one count of possession of a controlled substance for heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances for sale, two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act.

Madison also faces booking for child abuse or neglect. Bail for Madison is set at $440,640.

Kaila S. Leyva, 20, of Spring Creek was booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, one count of possession of a controlled substance for heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Leyva also was found to have an additional 1.22 grams of heroin and .09 grams of methamphetamine, according the Narcotics Unit press release.

Leyva also faces charges for child abuse and neglect. Bail for Leyva is set at $110,640.

The investigation team also included the Elko County Sheriff’s office and the Nevada Highway Patrol.
