ELKO – Sheriff’s detectives have collected evidence in Tuesday night’s armed robbery at Port of Subs, and police are hopeful that an arrest will be made soon.
The Port of Subs in the Elko Junction Shopping Center was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash shortly after closing time.
“A subject brandished a firearm, he took cash and fled” Elko Police Lt. Mike Palhegyi told the Elko Daily on Wednesday.
Two people were involved, and both were wearing masks that covered their faces.
Palhegyi said Thursday that detectives from the Elko County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Wednesday in Osino and collected evidence connected to the robbery.
“The investigation is ongoing, but they are a lot closer than they were,” he said.
Robbery is a category B felony in Nevada carrying sentences of two to 15 years in prison. A deadly weapon enhancement can add another one to 15 years in prison.
