ELKO – Authorities arrested a woman for allegedly threatening her spouse with a kitchen knife.
A man called authorities twice on March 14 after his wife made an advance against him with a dangerous weapon. According to Elko Justice Court records, Carol J. Hosford, 62, of Elko had been drinking when she pulled the knife. Her husband called police afterwards but refrained from telling the officer about the knife during the first meeting.
The husband left with his granddaughter and went to dinner. When they returned, Hosford was still drinking and remained combative. During the time the two were gone she apparently stabbed an office chair and fell down some stairs.
When police arrived a second time officers asked whether she had threatened her husband and she agreed. Statements from the two witnesses also corroborated the report.
Hosford was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. She was taken to the Elko County Jail and then to Northeastern Nevada Hospital for treatment of a sprained foot. Bail was listed at $20,000.
