JACKPOT – A Wyoming man was arrested in Jackpot Friday on charges related to burglary and credit card theft dating back to 2013.
Jason A. Cane, 31, of Evansville, Wyoming, was arrested at the Jackpot substation on a warrant for four counts of burglary, four counts of obtaining another person’s identification for unlawful purpose, four counts of using a credit or debit card without cardholder’s consent, and two counts of failure to appear after admission to bail.
According to court documents, Cane allegedly stole a wallet from a car near Firstand Ash streets on or about Oct. 19 and 20, 2013.
The theft was discovered when the victim returned to her car and found the driver door window smashed and her wallet missing. She also reported charges appeared on her credit card from four locations on Mountain City Highway including Shell gas station, Maverik, McDonalds, and Wal-Mart the day the wallet was discovered missing.
Documents also revealed the suspect was seen by investigators in video surveillance entering the stores at approximately the time the charges were made on the victim’s credit card, which totaled $251.61.
Cane is being held at the Elko County Jail on $19,000 bail.
