ELKO – August could be a little early to wrap Christmas presents, but at Highland Estates, it is the perfect time of year.
Residents of the Highland Village filled 150 shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene items and toys for children around the world as part of “Christmas in August,” said Mickey Hale, director of marketing and sales.
Part of Operation Christmas Child by Samaritan’s Purse, an international disaster relief organization, the charity drive received donated items for the shoeboxes.
Samaritan’s Purse has collected and delivered more than 146 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 160 countries and territories since 1993.
