ELKO – A West Wendover man was arrested after allegedly imprisoning and strangling his girlfriend on Sunday.
Kevin I. Gonzalez, 26, was walking home with his girlfriend to an apartment they shared with some of her family members when a male co-worker pulled along side them to chat, said Lt. Don Lininger.
Gonzalez allegedly became jealous and after the co-worker left an argument arose. According to Lininger, Gonzalez hit the woman, knocked her to the ground and fled the scene. The woman walked home.
Gonzalez came into the apartment several hours later.
Lininger said, “The argument continued, he struck her and covered her mouth to prevent her from calling out.”
According to Lininger, Gonzalez then choked the woman and made threats about hurting her worse.
After Gonzalez fell asleep, the woman alerted her family as to what had happened. They called police.
Gonzalez was arrested for domestic battery; domestic battery by strangulation; coercion; and false imprisonment.
His bail was listed at $26,140.
