ELKO — Police arrested two men early Saturday morning behind the JC Penney store on Idaho Street when an officer saw stolen goods in the back of their car, said Elko Police Lt. Ty Trouten.
Officers saw Timothy L. Davis, 25, and Zackery S. Morse, 25, walking around businesses that were closed in the early morning hours and approached their open-top Suzuki where there was a generator, first aid kit and other items on the seat, Trouten said.
Those same items had been reported stolen from a travel trailer in Elko earlier in the weekend, Trouten said.
Officers believe the two also lied about their whereabouts during the initial theft, Trouten said.
When officers searched Morse they found pills and a small plastic pen body called a tooter, which is commonly used for inhaling or snorting drugs, Trouten said.
Davis was booked for possession of stolen property and obstructing an officer. His bail was listed at $5,637.
Morse was booked for buying, possessing or receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was listed at $11,274.
