ELKO — A Spring Creek man was arrested Thursday on charges of domestic violence after he allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend.
Elko County Sheriff Dale Lotspeich said deputies responded to a residence on Westcliff Drive around 6:30 a.m.
Lotspeich said Jacob Pangborn, 21, and his girlfriend had been drinking when they got into a verbal argument that turned physical.
Pangborn allegedly grabbed his girlfriend around the neck, tried to strangle her and held her against her will, Lotspeich said.
When she went to a trailer where they were living in order to retrieve her belongings, Pangborn allegedly knocked her to the ground and threatened to kill her, Lotspeich said.
Several of Pangborn’s relatives broke up the fight. When Pangborn’s girlfriend left the scene, she called for help.
Lotspeich said Pangborn was arrested on probable cause of domestic violence due to the markings around his girlfriend’s neck.
He also faces a charge of false imprisonment. His bail is set at $17,000.
Pangborn was arrested in April on charges of felony domestic violence and coercion.
