ELKO – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian invites the public to a meet and greet event Friday afternoon at the Coffee Mug.
Tarkanian plans to challenge incumbent Sen. Dean Heller in the primary election on June 12.
Heller was appointed to the seat vacated by Sen. John Ensign in 2011, and was elected in 2012 by narrowly defeating Democrat Shelley Berkley.
Tarkanian narrowly lost the 2016 District 3 congressional election to Jacky Rosen. He also ran in 2012 for the District 4 seat.
The meet and greet in Elko is from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and will include appetizers and drinks, according to Tarkanian’s campaign staff.
“Anyone can come out and ask questions,” said communications director Richard Hernandez.
Tarkanian and Heller also plan to field questions Friday night at the Elko County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner.
