ELKO — The Nevada Department of Wildlife needs volunteers for a willow planting project along the banks of the Humboldt River near Elko. Volunteers should meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the NDOW office and travel a short distance to the worksite.

All tools and materials, as well as drinks and lunch, will be provided. Bring hip boots if you have them, gloves, hat, appropriate work clothes and sunscreen. Work should be finished by late afternoon.

The new willows will create wildlife habitat for birds and mammals and help protect the river bank from erosion.

Sign up for this volunteer opportunity at ndow.org or call Norv Dallin at 777-2391 for information.
