ELKO – December will bring wintry weather to northeastern Nevada this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds are expected to increase Saturday afternoon, especially over Humboldt County and higher terrain. Rain showers on Saturday evening will turn to snow showers Sunday morning as much colder air moves in.
“Although snow amounts along I-80 and US 93 and 50 are not expected to be significant, rapidly falling surface temperatures may result in icy roads (in spots) Sunday,” stated a hazardous weather outlook for the weekend.
The high Monday will only creep up to the mid-30s.
Snow showers should taper off Monday and highs will bounce back into the 40s as skies clear Tuesday through Thursday.
