ELKO — Representatives from Noble Energy Inc. spoke to locals in a packed conference room Thursday evening about oil exploration plans.

Based on 3D seismic surveying, the company is hoping hydraulic fracturing — or fracking — will change Nevada’s status as a historically low oil producing state.

Still, company reps cautioned the public that success is not guaranteed.

Noble also said it’s working with regulators to ensure safety and environmental responsibility.
