ELKO – The City of Elko is seeking a new member for its planning commission.

According to planning technician Shelby Archuletta, chairman Aaron Martinez is stepping down from his service with the commission. He has served since July 2013.

“He built a new house that is out of the city limits,” said Archuletta.

She said planning commission members are required to live within Elko city limits.

People interested in applying can send a letter to city planner Cathy Laughlin at 1751 College Ave. The application deadline is March 16. On March 27 the city council will review the applications and make a decision on who will be selected.
