ELKO — The State’s Sagebrush Ecosystem Council will meet via teleconference 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The board will discuss possible credit mitigation systems. An entity can bank credit with habitat restoration projects to be used later for its own interest.

I would like to know what restraints will be imposed if the sagebrush is listed, and are they at all negotiable? Perhaps we should consider adopting some if those restraints since they are presumably intended to protect sage brush populations. If they help, perhaps the Feds will say that's all that us required, or that the restraints don't have to be continued because they are not helpful. I would like to know what everyone is afraid of if the bird is listed - perhaps a discussion of that will encourage more support for mitigation efforts now.
