Woman arrested after driving onto sheriff’s office lawn
ELKO — A woman who drove up onto the lawn in front of the sheriff’s office and hit a tree had a short walk to the jail when she was arrested for DUI this weekend, said Undersheriff Clair Morris.
Elko police arrested 26-year-old Erica C. Berg after she drove into the sheriff’s office landscaping around 2 a.m. Sunday.
Berg was driving on a revoked license after a previous DUI and had two warrants out for her arrest. She was being held at Elko County Jail on $3,105 bail.
While Sheriff Jim Pitts said he’s still assessing damage, his office will try to repair tire tracks in the grass, a gash in one tree and evaluate any damage to the sprinkler system.
The Elko Police Department was still preparing an accident report and was not able to estimate yet how fast the car was going when it crashed.
Neither Berg nor two passengers who were in her car were injured.
