I would like to take advantage of your letters forum, to express my own and I am sure the thanks of all non-native American veterans who were feted along with our Native American (veteran) brothers and sisters at the annual celebration sponsored by the Elko Band of the Western Shoshone.
As always we were made to feel welcome and appreciated, by one of the most patriotic groups of people it has been my pleasure to associate with. The home-cooked food was both plentiful and delicious, and the Veterans Day Committee orchestrated a moving and heartfelt tribute to both the living and deceased warriors of the Tribe.
All this and the terrific turnout at the parade were truly the highlights of my day and made me proud to be a veteran. Again, my thanks and appreciation to the Tribe, the committee and all those who made the event special.
