I find it appalling that the centennial boot at the Star restaurant was damaged beyond repair at the last Elko Beer Walk! Shouldn't someone be held accountable for destroying property and obviously public drunkenness?
Maybe it is time for the business community to stop promoting public drunkenness with the wine and beer walks.
Those boots cost the owners a whopping $1,500 bucks plus the $500 the artist was paid to create it, plus the month of hard intense labor to produce a one-of-a-kind piece of art that the community could enjoy.
Now, because of some ignorant irresponsible drunk, it is gone! What a sad commentary. It is a loss to the store owner and the community that should not go without compensation.
