SPRING CREEK – The Spring Creek Lady Spartans defeated the Casa Roble Lady Rams in their first game of the High Sierra Winter Challenge on Thursday by a score 68-15.

The leading scorers for the Lady Spartans were Alayna Grosz with 15 points and Caitlyn Dimick with 12 points.

Spring Creek coach Holly Miller noted that every player on the Lady Spartans’ roster scored in the game.

“We did a good job rotating the players,” Miller said. “We had 35 turnovers that we used to score and give us those extra possessions.”

Guard Jasmine Yadeskie, by far one of the smallest players on the court for the Lady Spartans, was in the right position at the right time for the boards and came down with eight rebounds during the game.

The strong Lady Spartans’ defense had Casa Roble butting heads by preventing the Lady Rams from scoring the entire third quarter. This gave the Lady Spartans continuing opportunities to use their offensive sets of plays to score.

“If we can keep winning games like this with less than 15 points scored by the opposing team, that’s a great way to start the season off,” Miller said.

The Lady Spartans faced the taller Carson City Lady Senators at 6 p.m. Friday in the High Sierra Winter Challenge.
