WINNEMUCCA — With the icy-cold fingers of Father Winter slowly releasing their grasp on Northeastern Nevada, the Spartans golf team still hasn’t had a full practice on its home course.

So an icebreaker at Winnemucca with Elko and Lowry on Friday turned out to be their first day of playing from the tees to the holes.

The Spartans shot 465 as a squad and were led by two freshmen, Taylar Schmitt and Cooper Cordova.
