Police, Fire and Medical Dispatcher(s) Needed: Elko Central Dispatch Administrative Authority is currently recruiting for Dispatcher 1. Applicants must be willing to work shift work including weekends and holidays, be able to type at least 35 w.p.m., pass a written exam, an oral exam and an extensive background investigation. Those with criminal backgrounds will not be considered. Dispatchers take emergency and non-emergency phone calls, dispatch police/fire/medical personnel under high stress situations while multitasking. Dispatchers are required to monitor status of all public safety personnel at all times and have good computer, communication and customer skills. Memorization of codes, computer commands and Elko County geographical area is a must. Position includes retirement through PERS, medical benefits and leave after probationary period.
