ELKO — Taxable sales in Elko County continued their upward trend during August, according to figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Department of Taxation.
These figures showed an increase of 28.2 percent in taxable sales for August 2011 as compared with August 2010. The total was $128 million, an increase of $28 million from August 2010.
Utilities in Elko County increased from $145,830 in taxable sales last year to $3 million in August, for a change of 2,253.4 percent.
Heavy and civil engineering construction increased from $1.1 million in taxable sales last year to $2.6 million in August, for a change of 124.8 percent.
