THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ELKO NEVADA HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR... SNOWMELT IN... SOUTHERN ELKO COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NEVADA...

* UNTIL 130 PM PDT WEDNESDAY.

* AT 0950 AM PDT, LAMOILLE CREEK WAS IN MINOR FLOOD STAGE AT 4.80 FEET AFTER PEAKING AT 5.06 FEET SUNDAY EVENING. THIS IS LOWER THAN SATURDAY EVENING'S PEAK OF 5.26, WHICH IS LIKELY DUE TO A DROP IN HIGH TEMPERATURES ON SUNDAY COMPARED TO SATURDAY IN THE RUBY MOUNTAINS. THE CREEK BOTTOMED OFF HIGHER THAN PREVIOUS DAYS THIS MORNING AT 4.80 FEET (4.68 FEET SUNDAY MORNING), SO EXPECT A HIGHER PEAK TODAY AROUND 5.20 TO 5.25 FEET. THUNDERSTORMS WILL KEEP BASIN TEMPERATURES SIMILAR TO SUNDAY'S.

* MINOR FLOODING IS EXPECTED.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...THE TOWN OF LAMOILLE NEAR LAMOILLE CREEK AND ASSOCIATED DIVERSION CANALS IN THE LAMOILLE AREA.

* IMPACT...AT 4.8 FEET...FLOOD STAGE AT THE POWERHOUSE GAGE LOCATION IN LAMOILLE CANYON. MINOR FLOODING CAN OCCUR IN THE TOWN OF LAMOILLE. WATER CAN SEEP INTO BASEMENTS NEAR THE RIVER.

* IMPACT...AT 5.5 FEET...THIS IS MODERATE FLOOD. THE CREEK IN LAMOILLE APPROACHES THE LEVEL OF THE BRIDGE. THE FLOW IS EXTREMELY STRONG AND WILL CARRY AWAY ANY PERSON FALLING INTO THE CREEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.
