Basque Festival parade

The Elko Basque Club is now taking entries for the 50th annual Basque Festival/Fourth of July parade scheduled for July 6. This year’s theme is “Golden Anniversary.”

Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the Crystal Theatre.  Number will be given out at that time.  The parade will begin promptly at 10. There will be no stopping or performing during the parade.

The route will go from the Crystal Theatre to the Elko County fairgrounds, where games and other activities will start at 1 p.m.

Deadline for entries is Wednesday.

Ruby Valley Volunteer

Fire Department picnic

Have a steak and a good time noon to 6 p.m. July 4th at the 38th annual Ruby Valley Fireman's Picnic at the Pole Canyon Grove which in Northern Ruby Valley.

Steaks, hamburgers, chorizos, adult beverages and kids games will make it a great day. This is an old-fashioned steak fry to raise money for the volunteer fire brigade.

Take exit 321 from Interstate 80, follow Ruby Valley Highway (SR229} over Secret Pass.  Turn left and go four miles on the North Ruby Valley Road.

Spring Creek

Independence Day festival

Everyone is invited to join the Spring Creek Independence Day Festival on July 4. This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great?”

The POW/MIA will officially kick off the event with a flag raising ceremony approximately 6:45 am.

A 5K run/walk  hosted by the Spring Creek High School Cross Country team begins at 7 a.m. with an awards ceremony following the race. Registration and check in are at 6 a.m. Registration forms are available at Elko Dental Specialists, the Spring Creek Association office and Khoury's Marketplace. People can register the morning of the event as well.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. on the Spring Creek Parkway between Glenvista and Parkchester drives.

Immediately following, the events will shift down to the Marina where there will be games, a horseshoe tournament and vendors.

The festival concludes with the 17th annual Lake of Fire fireworks show at dark.

The Spring Creek Independence Day committee is accepting entries for the parade. Judges will select a first, second and third place winner in each category. Entries must be received by July 2.

Montello Fourth of July parade

The  Montello Fourth of July parade takes place 11 a.m. July 4. Participants should be at the post office, Highway 233 and Second Street, by 10:30.

The parade will feature floats, horses, alpacas, bikes, marchers and more.

Spectator can view the parade along Highway 233. There will be ample space for chairs and blankets.

Following the parade will be the annual free hamburgers and soda at Centennial Park corner of Highway 233 and Fifth Street.

A video of the parade, including pre-parade interviews, will be posted on YouTube.

Everyone from near and far is welcome to attend.

Wells Fourth of July celebration

The Wells Chamber of Commerce presents a Fourth of July celebration beginning with a parade at 10 a.m. A family barbecue will take place after the parade.

The main attraction is at the Wells Arena 3-6 p.m.

A grand entry will be performed by the POW*MIA Elko Awareness Association.

Rodeo performances will consist of PeeWee and Junior events, starting at 3 p.m., followed by the rodeo at 6.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors. Kids 10 and under get in free.

There will be fireworks after the rodeo.
